'A Clear Direction Financial Planning' differs from many other financial planning firms in that it is not owned nor influenced by a major financial institution such as the major banks. This means that we do not accept any upfront or trailing commissions from any investment products. This independence means that we are free to recommend any investment that suits your needs without being restricted to investments that pay commissions, or investments from a financial institution that owns us. The basis of our approach is the use of low cost 'passive' funds. These funds provide a low cost, tax effective and simple approach to building an investment portfolio. There is overwhelming research in both Australia and the US that these passive funds outperform higher cost actively managed funds. We also focus on asset allocation. Research has shown that this is a significant contributor to portfolio performance, far more so than investment selection or investment timing. On occasions we will use high yielding direct investments as part of our strategy to achieve low cost, tax effective portfolio solutions.
